Minor update!

There were some small mistakes I missed when I changed the notaions from 5 to 1.

I also changed no-miss shot from 13 to 12, and firing mortars from 13 to 12. Needed to make modern Magika work!

That is all! download at your leisure!

Small, little, major change.

As mentioned before, I gave the system as a whole a major onceover, chainging the combat points from multiples of 5 to multiples of 1, as there was no reason to really bother with having it in multiples of five.

Also! The races in Modern magika are done, and decided for the most part, and I'm still working at the book.

IT WILL BE COMPLETED!

Long fucking time

First off, I want to say that Yes, I still am working on Modern Magika.

I would also like to say that this is a much harder book to write than the core rulebook. Tons harder.

That being said, I'd love to give those that still read this blog a little taste

Modern Magika's Magical system

Modern Magika, much like most things in Ops and Tactics, uses a modular spell system, where instead of receiving a particular spell that does a set, particular event, the mage would build a spell from pieces and parameters  using a selected ammount of spell points. Anything can be modifed in this spell, as long as the spell can accept/use the modifications. Below is a excerpt from my notes, that gives you a general direction  but not a full finished outcome, of how I"m planning on doing spells. I'm showing off evocation because it's one of the most option-friendly spellschools out there as of current. Again, this is only an excerpt

vocation
Evocation focues on tapping into the raw energies of the world and funneling them into a useful force

Evocation, because of it's nature, is by far the most common spells a Mage would learn, as they are one of the two offensive schools that exist. All Evocation spells are touch spells, unless points are spent to turn them from touch spells to other types of spells.

Subschools
Cold-
Encompases cold attacks, allows for cold traps, and cold enchantments
Cantrip: 1 SP - Chill drinks and freeze 16 oz of water into ice, make a single snowball, or keep 32 oz. of food cold for 4 hours.
Base Cost: 2 SP - 1d3 Cold touch attack
Increase Dice Value- 1 SP + 1 SP per Increase(From 1d3 to 1d4, to 1d6, ect.)
Increase Dice Number- 3 SP + 1 SP Per Increase( From 1d3 to 2d3, to 3d3, ect.)
Area Attack: 3 SP - Changes the spell from a touch attack to an area attck that has a burst Radius of 5 ft., and a target range of 10 feet from the user
Increase Burst Radius: 2 SP + 1 SP per 5 ft range Increase
Increase Range : 1 SP + 1 SP per 5 ft range increase
Increase Spell Time: 2 SP + 1 per round - Allows the Area Attack to continue to stay for additional rounds
Line Area Attack: 1 SP - Allows the spell to be cast as a line instead of a burst, the line equal to twice the length of the radius
Ray Attack: 2 SP - Changes the spell from a touch attack to a Ranged touch attack with a range of 15 ft.
Increase Range: 1 SP + 1 SP per 5 ft range Increase
Burst Attack: 2 SP - Changes the spell from a touch atack to a Cone burst attack with a range of 10 ft.
Increase Range: 2 SP + 1 SP per 5 ft range Increase

OH! And before I forget. Major change. I'm changing all excerpts of Combat points from multiples of 5 to multiples of 1, since there's no good reason to even leave them as multiples of 5. Expect the revised books very soon.

Supply Drop inbound!

New Content time! I finally finished the first supply drop, focused on big guns, particularly hand cannons. It also adds a new variant rule that has been in the works since 2nd edtion: Recoil! A bit of a warning, the recoil variant rule will slow down combat a tad, particularly for attacks that fire more than one round, but will add to the reason

Donations and Prints, Part deux

Good afternoon gentlemen! I was able to get the donation button up, and calculate the price for prints.

For either book, the cost will be 9 dollars, + 4 dollars shipping. It will be shipped with 3holes punched, and loose rings in these three holes, unless requested otherwise. It will be printed black and white only, on laser paper. If you order two books, then shipping is only 1 dollar more( 23 bucks for both books!)

If you would like a nice binder or any other special request, that can be negotiated and accomidated, but it will cost more to do.

Also! I'm currently in the process of bookmarking the version that's going to be printed, and it won't be using the standard font, rather a font that I feel better suits the setting the book is. The information will be the same the font, will not.

Look for it!

And if you support the project, please donate! If you don't support it, donate anyway! That'll show me!

Prints and Donations

After a lot of deliberation and work, i've decided to finally put in an order for a laser printer. I bought a Brothers 2240 laser printer for all of my traditional gaming needs. But the real question is why am I posting it here?

Well, because I'm going to start selling copies, thats why!

While it's still lacking art, the books are finished and the font has been changed from that boring times new roman to a font that more accurately represents what it's trying to convey. Price for a printed book will be 9 dollars, plus shipping.(For either book, Armory or the Core rulebook) Shipping is all hinged on where I'm delivering it to. If it's somewhere in the Metro Atlanta area, I may hand deliver it, otherwise, shipping will be posted if you inquire about a book. All books will be signed "to" someone, as well as serialized on the front, unless otherwise requested otherwise in the email.

You can inquire about buying a book at opsandtactics@gmail.com.

Also! I'll be setting up some type of donation thing to keep this project rolling. Donating is, by no means, required, but it is appreciated. (Or buy a book! )

Looking forward!

It's been awhile since I've written a blog post, so I think it's long overdue.

With Armory Released, I'm looking forward to writing a slew of new, minor books, and a major update.

The first of these books are called Supply Drops. They're small(No more than 10 pages), little addons that may contain some new items, variant rules, or whatever I decide to include in the book. It could be a list of more cars, some guns, or even equipment to use for your next adventure.

The second of these are little modules, things to help newcommers get into the flavor Of Ops and Tactics. I'll be starting off with some S.W.A.T. modules, that will be designed primarily around action, but Roleplay will definitely play a part as well. There may be more, but that's all I'm saying I'm working on for now.

The third, and probally the biggest of the thrree, is a full sized addon book, called Ops and Tactics: Modern Magika. It is poised to bring fantastaical Monsters, and Magic, to the Ops and Tactics Universe. I had an original thought about adding playable fantasy races as well, but that caused more problems than it solved, so I've decided to scrap it as a whole, though they may be in a supply drop, if I'm able to get them to where I like them.

Even with school starting, I'll still continue to be writing the little game that could.

Also! I'll be purchasing a good laser printer soon, and will be offering printable copies of the book in a softback version, or with a binder. I'm not sure on price, but I can gurantee it won't cost over $25 USD(Or 1.25 WP), even with shipping. So look for that!

Signing off, SoulBro

Still working, hammering away....

So, I've officially "Finished" 4th edition, and I've started on Ops and Tactics: Armory, which is shaping up to look like a pretty decent book(No art still, unfortunately). I will administer (At least) two more updates to it, one when I finish Armory, and one when I finish Modern Magika(As recursive things to make sure things don't contradict)

Features of Armory: More firearms, as well as a healthy dose of variant rules that will put a little more depth and more variables when making choices with firearms.

More upgrades for firearms, and a completely redesigned gunsmithing chapter.

Did I mention more firearms?

The return of the Curio and Relic Firearms.

5th edition is also in the works, which is mostly adding social combat to 4th edition. It's currently in an early alpha build, and don't expect anything until after Armory is done, and i'm still deciding if it should be a patch addon, or a completely new version.

That's all for now!

Found another few minor errors, and a rather major change

So! Another update. I changed some minor things in the book, bumping it up to 1.02, and I moved .38 Special down a category. The reason I did this is because quite frainky, it's just not at the same level .40 S&W is. At all.

Also, I removed the ability to download all of the older versions of Ops and Tactics, because I found people handing out WAY old versions(Alpha and Beta Builds), and that's not what I want people to still see, when someone post about Ops and Tactics.

Improvement! It's important. But that's all for now, download at your whim.

Minor update to 4e

Fixed some spelling, grammar, and confusing rule errors in 4e, and some formatting mistakes.

Also! I changed how Burst Fire, Double tap, slamfire, and Fanning deal out damage. It's now based on how many dice you roll from the get go, thereby giving a significant amount more damage to higher caliber weapons, where as the old rules, they'd only get one more damage dice.

I also put up the logo, made by Hospes on the front, as well as on the new character sheets.

With this edit, I'm going to put the core rulebook on the shelf, and offically start working on the Armory Splatbook! So more guns are good guns!

NEw Character sheets!

I found a font that is perfect for what I wanted the Character sheets to look like, and I made the necessary edits to it.

It looks good! go and take a look!

I removed the old link, and posted up a new one.

Playtest that sent me back to the drawing board

Running a little playtest with the new rules to third edition, I was sent back to the drawing board, working more on the combat system and the feats and all that.

One of my players, a veteran of the Tabletop games, suggested to me that instead of increasing the Combat Points every level, leave them at a static value, and just decrease the cost to do things using feats.

Quite frankly, it's a damn good idea, and I'm taking it.

Thank you Mr. Sieland!
